Yggdrasil Radio Discussion

As the topic says, is Yggdrasil Radio named after various mentions of it from Sting Entertainment-made games (Yggdrasil from Riviera, and the Yggdra part of Yggdra Union)?

Because if so, that is completely awesome. I love those games!

Sadly no, that is not the case.
Yggdrasil Radio is based off of the anime Ah! Megumi-sama (lit. Ah! My Goddess).

My German friend insists that this station is named after the world tree in Norse mythology.

You are correct in that term CampSoup.
Ah! Megumi-sama is based off of norse mythology but tweeked a bit.
Instead of a world tree, Yggdrasil is the World Computer.

All the computers in my house are named after fictional computers from anime, such as Omoikane, Wirbelwind, Yggdrasil... the latter machine was purchased as a dedicated computer to put the station on, and I got the bright idea of theming the station around Yggdrasil, the computer in Ah! My Goddess that is dedicated to running the universe.

What if Chrono, Ere, Ex, and all the rest of the Yggdrasil support staff (and maybe the senior staff like Belldandy, Skuld and Urd, too) wanted some tunes to listen to on the job? They'd listen to "Yggdrasil Radio!" And maybe talk to each other on an intercom set up for Heaven's support team.

And that's how it all started.
