Post subject:  Possible Client for the Chat?

I know that I personally have issues with my netbook - chrome with all my pony stuff, here, schoolwork, and whatever other random things I happen to be looking up takes 99% of my memory; I start having issues with the stream stuttering and with playing local files; there's not enough resources to go around. I figure if someone (I'll help/start if I can see some code on the chat client) makes a client (windows/linux cross compatible, I promise!) then I can have one less chrome process taking up memory. Low priority, just something I'd like to see eventually.

How about - if its easier to implement - to hide the chat behind a button: "show chat". the button's default value should be "show", so its text will be "hide chat". and the button's value would be stored in a cookie?

Post subject:  meant no chrome

i have no problem with it being on the page; an external chat pragram that i didn't need chrome open for is where my hopes lie, like irssi or an emacs plugin or something. if i just need something to parse javascript ol php scripts, then i'd be up for writing it myself; i just need to figure out how to do it :)
